TITLE: Low-Cost Portable Instrumentation System for Engaging Students through Hands-on Learning

DATE OF SEMINAR: March 12 (Thursday), 2015

LOCATION: 3rd floor conference room in the Electrical Engineering Building

TIME:            1:00PM – 2:00PM

ABSTRACT:

Due to advancement in technology made possible through increasing miniaturization of integrated circuits, several portable instrumentation systems are now available.  Low-cost portable electronic instrumentation systems, which allow students to test their ideas anywhere and anytime, will have significant influence on engineering education by inspiring students to be creative and become highly engaged in their learning.

One of the low-cost electronic instrumentation systems is the Analog Discovery Platform. This talk will introduce the attendees to the Analog Discovery Module, Waveforms, and Electronic Parts Kits. In addition, attendees will become knowledgeable about how hands-on experiential learning is being introduced into the electrical and computer engineering curriculum at PVAMU.  Furthermore, the attendees will see examples of hands-on experiments that have been performed by electrical and computer engineering students.
